Sirius Park Kennel was established in 1986 with the purchase of our first pure-bred female shepherd, Rustic's Q.T., who served as the foundation of our breeding program today.
We are a small breeding, showing and hobby kennel, located in the northwest corner of Smithfield, Rhode Island. Our facility features a completely chain linked property of five country acres that affords our animals plenty of room to grow and thrive in a natural setting.
Our kennel compound features large, outdoor runs nestled under mature oak trees to provide a comfortable environment for our dogs. Our puppy kennel and holding area for females to be bred is separated from the main kennel. There are large paddocks for exercising and play.
At night or in inclement weather, all dogs are kenneled inside. All our dogs, especially the puppies, are given attention on a daily basis to insure proper socialization and smooth transition into new homes.
Since our establishment we have been dedicated to the promotion and improvement of our wonderful breed. Our dogs are bred for soundness of temperament, soundness in health and conformation, or the "look of eagles" or nobility, as emphasized in the breed standard.
Our breedings have evolved from American lines. We believe in the promotion of good hips and all our breeding stock has been x-rayed and/or approved by the Orthopedic Foundation. Therefore, our breedings are selective and planned with future generations in mind.
We have bred German Shepherds that have served as companion dogs for individuals and families, therapy dogs, service dogs, obedience, agility, herding, and conformation dogs. Since our inception, we have been fortunate to have bred some very beautiful German Shepherds who have been recognized as oustanding representations of the breed. Many of those dogs are featured on the following pages of our website.
Some of those accolades include:
One of our dogs, Ch. Sirius Park's Monogram even worked for the political campaign of Rhode Island's present Lt. Governor Charles Fogarty. Ch. Monogram was featured in the television campaign ads, attended the political rallies, and served as the symbolic "watchdog" for the Rhode Island state retirement system. Monogram aka "Mason" provided a delightful addition to the campaign rallies, especially for the children in attendance.
Finally, we co-bred the 2004 Grand Victress G.V. Sel. Ch. Hickoryhill's Godiva Sirius Park.
Q.T. Arabian Night, Far East, and Flint
In 1999 we whelped a very promising puppy who at first was overshadowed by the earlier accomplishments of our older dogs.
This special whelp was named Worth the Trip since we had driven through blinding snowstorms to and from Indiana to breed his dam Ch. Ivy League OFA. We had planned a breeding to the future Grand Victor Hickoryhill's Bull Durham ROM. Tripper was the only whelp in the litter, but what a puppy!
Tripper would not be undone by his former kennel mates. His tribute can be found in our website and we hope that viewers will enjoy just a small part of his story. Tripper's entire career culminated in a final hurrah at the 2009 National Speciality Show. There he won the 9-11 Veterans class and later exhibited his outstanding conformation and temperment in the Best of Breed class. He traversed the ring with another young handler, a junior eight months younger and forty pounds lighter than our beautiful boy. Marie Oster at the tender age of ten took our boy around the ring to the applause and standing ovation of the German Shepherd fancy.
It was a magical moment and Tripper's final gift to all of us. We lost him less than a week later, but he left us with so many wonderful memories and a lasting legacy to the German Shepherd breed and Sirius Park Kennel.
While Tripper was building his show career, we acquired one of his progeny from our good friends, Joseph and Maria Bihari. Her name was Bihari's Yola of Sirius Park. She finished her championship in six months with our new and upcoming handler, Sean Conboy.
We bred Yola to Grand Victor Mar Haven"s And the Beat Goes On ROM. From that breeding we kept
Sirius Park's Kojak Bihari. Kojak finished his championship in twelve shows and was also a Futurity winner. He has gone on to produce champions and qualifiers who contribute to his future ROM.
One of Kojak's champions, Ch. Sirius Park's Santana OFA finished his championship in the same fashion as his sire. He too has sired some very promising get who are still very young. His first progeny to be exhibited won the Best in Olympics award just this past spring of 2011. This spring of 2011 Santana aka "Carlos" has also taken several Best of Breed awards and looks forward to a very promising career as a special and a producer.
Two other young stars have been working on future championships and also exhibit promise for the future in the show ring. Our young girl Sirius Park's Vegas Show Girl ( Sel. Ch. Lyloak's First Knight OFA x Sirius Park's Riley RR ) now has one major and our newest boy Sirius Park's Walk On The Wild Side (Weitz's Canto of Bihari Sirius x Hillkrest's Tia of Bihari) garnered Reserve Futurity Dog at the 2011 Mid-Atlantic Futurity his first time in the show ring.
We have done two breedings in 2011.
From the first breeding we have kept Sirius Parks Eternity, who resides with owner Jan Weatherbee. Eternity (Fellsway's Black Hawk Down x Hillkrest's Tia of Bihari ) will begin her career in the fall.
Recently we repeated the breeding that produced our Grand Ch Sirius Santana, OFA good hips and elbows. This is a breeding of Ch Sirius Parks Kojak Bihari, TC, OFA good hips & elbows X Sirius Parks Orginal Sin
The gang of the past, taking us into the future.
As a result of health and work related issues, we curtailed our breeding program for a period of time.
We were however not idle. Good friend, Jan Weatherbee, and I spent our time finishing now Ch. Sirius Park's Eternity of Oakhill.
We have planned several breedings for Eternity and indeed will be breeding her to Grand Ch. Jerrwen's I Walk The Line OFA E and DM clear this July of 2015. Her litter will be whelped in October of 2015.
We are also expecting a September 2015 litter from our Sirius Park's Black Sambuca and Oakhill's Reach for the Sky. This will be a line breeding on our Grand Ch. Sirius Park's Santana OFA G H&E.
In 2014 our Ch. Sirius Park's Kojak Bihari OFA G H&E earned the coveted title of ROM, Register of Merit,. He proved his worth as a producer for our kennel and breeding program with a very limited number of breedings. We are very proud of his accomplishments in our breeding program.
We have very high hopes for our latest whelp. He is a very promising young male who is a solid black. He is a progeny of our High Country's Green Eyed Lady and Grand Ch. Jerrwen's I Walk The Line OFA E H&E and DM clear. We hope to begin his show career in the late fall of this year. His photo will be added to our website in the future months.
Finally we have two other breedings for late this year.
In November we will breed Gr. Ch. Sirius Parks Santana OFA G H&E to Seashore's Sunny Sable Girl. This is a repeat breeding. The first litter (one pup) gave a single female pup who has done well in the few times that she was shown as a pup.Hopefully she will be ready for the spring of 2016 to begin a serious show career.
In late December we will be doing a long anticipated breeding with a frozen sperm collection from our AOE 2X Sel. Am. and Sel. Can. Ch. Sirius Park's Worth The Trip OFA H&E, TC., PT, ROM to Sirius Park's Yazmine, a Gr. Ch. Santana OFA G H&E and Sirius Park's Victoria Secret daughter. We expect this to be a very promising litter.
Inquiries are welcome on all of our prospective litters.
We truly hope that you enjoy looking at our website and reading about our dogs.
